The Site
Mill Hill; a development of 74 homes in the
village of Stathern. With landscape views and a pub
that doubles as a post office, the characterful site
had been allocated fewer dwellings than desired
and required a sensitive approach to achieve an
expanded quantum of development.
The Scheme
We knew that it was crucial to create a scheme
that positively responded to the local character and
landscape views. So, working in collaboration with
the landscape architect, we developed a concept
that defined a strong new landscape edge to the
site and settlement. We designed a scheme that

responded sensitively to
adjacent dwellings, creating three
green spaces which are addressed by locallyinspired building frontages.
The Success
The scheme successfully demonstrated to the local authority
and parish council that the site could accommodate more
dwellings than allocated and full planning permission was
granted.
