The Site
A proposed development of 200 dwellings in
Charnwood National Forest. This single field site was,
crossed by overhead power lines and pylons with a
busy road to the site frontage. The National Forest
location and landscaping and planting conditions also
created additional complexity.
The Scheme
Using a National Forest landscape-led approach, we
developed the initial concept, demonstrating the site’s
capacity for a range of housebuilder-friendly house
types. Our designs confirmed the ability to deliver
20% National Forest on-site planting provision with
visuals that incorporated strong elements of built form
in Charnwood. We also included a well-loved path
that borders the site for existing and future residents to
enjoy.
The Success
The land owners have a scheme that recognises the
potential of the site, as well as community benefits and
we anticipate an outline planning approval in the near
future.
